Parents

Welcome to the Pathways to Education Program™! We are so pleased that you and your son/daughter have chosen to participate in the program!

While the Pathways program is specifically aimed towards supporting students through their high school years, there are also many supports built into the program for parents! Each student is assigned a Student Parent Support Worker (SPSW), who will be their main contact person in the program.

As well as supporting and assisting the students, the SPSWs are available to assist parents when they feel the need for more support, guidance, and someone to advocate on their behalf. SPSWs welcome and encourage calls from parents, and try to keep in contact with them as much as possible!

You can call on your student’s SPSW for assistance!

An SPSW can help if:

  • a student/parent has concerns about a teacher
  • a student is having difficulties at Pathways – tutoring, mentoring, or other students
  • a student is having difficulties with peers, or is being bullied
  • a student/parent has questions about course selections and the level/stream their student is being placed in
  • a student has missed bus tickets and/or incentive pick-up and check-in at their school
  • a student has been suspended
  • a student need school supplies, such as binders, pens, gym uniforms, etc.
  • a student/parent has questions about school and its requirements in general
  • a student cannot attend programming, or is struggling with program or school attendance
  • with connections to additional community resources and programs, such as health and other supports

Please don’t ever hesitate to call your student’s SPSW, they are happy to help in whatever way they can, whether helping to solve the problem, advocating on your behalf, or connecting you to the resources you need.

We look forward to hearing from you! Thanks again for choosing the Pathways to Education program!
